In order to expand its strategy of providing Industry 4.0 solutions, WEG has just announced an agreement to acquire control of PPI Multitask Group, which specializes in industrial automation system integration, manufacturing execution system (MES) solutions, industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), and software for the industry.

According to the agreement, WEG will own 51% of PPI's share capital and may increase its participation in the business in the future as stipulated in the agreement.

PPI Multitask was established in S ã o Paulo (SP) in 1992 and has a long history of integrating automation systems for machine control and industrial processes. It has one of the most respected MES software developed in Brazil. PPI provides solutions for automated data collection and online workshop monitoring, connecting to management systems of other companies, and preparing industrial sites to meet the new demands of Industry 4.0.

According to Mr. Carlos Jos é Bastos Grillo, WEG Digital Business Director, through this acquisition, the company now provides MES software to its customers, which is a pillar of the 4.0 industry. "By connecting to the MES management system, we will be able to provide accurate and real-time production and machine information, synchronizing the workshop with sales, supply, and inventory requirements, ensuring inventory accuracy, manufacturing costs, and particularly improving productivity," explained Grillo

Associated with WEG's traditional automation products and electric motors, PPI's software will allow for integrated device performance monitoring, such as electric motors using Motorscan sensors and real-time manufacturing execution management systems. These can ensure online visualization of the factory, achieve productivity management, and improve overall equipment efficiency (OEE).

In June of this year, WEG announced the creation of a new digital business structure to accelerate the development of embedded or external software solutions for the company's traditional products, and to transform its process management and manufacturing systems into real-time business.
